With only a few weeks before the New Year, time is running out to have your Business Plan in place before Christmas. If you are like the majority, you have no plan or urgency to complete a plan at all. Statistics over the decades have shown that businesses (and sales professionals) that have a written plan out-perform those who do not. Lack of planning is one key reason for business failure in the first four years.
Thomas S. Monson said it best, “When we deal in generalities, we shall never succeed. When we deal in specifics, we shall rarely have a failure. When performance is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported, the rate of performance accelerates.” Why do most fail to execute in this crucial business fundamental? It is a proven statistical fact that businesses have a much greater likelihood for growth – success if a written specific plan is in place- especially if results are reported and measured!
The common barriers I have witnessed with my clients tend to be the following attitude- mindset- misperceptions:
• It takes too much work- effort
• Tried planning before and goals were not reached
• Too busy working in the business to work on it
• Don’t know how to do a plan- no one ever helped
• Never saw the value – importance
• The world won’t come to an end if it is not done today
• Urgent matters take precedence
• Don’t know how to set or achieve a large goal
• Don’t believe the goal- plan will be achieved
• Facing the facts are painful
There are certainly more excuses that get in the way- and we provide the answer or response to overcome all of them. Assuming you are now wanting a breakthrough 2016 and have a strong desire to get more intentional with your business, the first step before you start your Business Plan is to examine yourself. This can address all of the barriers previously mentioned, specifically the last one. It is important to first do a Year End Review which will give you an opportunity to look at your 2015 production versus your goals-plans (assuming you had one) and then ranking your core business disciplines. Planning requires discipline and discipline is something most try to avoid at all cost. In order to run at Peak Performance, requires execution in: consistency, persistence, attitude and confidence disciplines. Being honest with yourself is the first key to identifying your growth areas and then placing yourself on your own improvement plan with timelines. You are now ready to position yourself to set and achieve a larger goal then you otherwise thought possible by drafting your business plan.
This is where we come in. Take advantage of a Complimentary Coaching Session with one of Our Coaches to go over your Year End Review and lay the foundation to thrive and make 2016 your best year ever!
