Potential = Performance – Interference

“Hey coach, what do you mean by interference is hampering my performance and therefore, I’m not reaching my potential.  How can that be?”

Interesting question, I’m glad you asked.

Darren Hardy, the publisher of Success Magazine, posted the above formula on one of his “Darren Daily” text messages.

Think about it.  How much time evaporates by interferences that interrupt our plans, activities and thinking each day?  What is the economic cost of the lost opportunities that result?

What are these interferences?  Some that come quickly to mind are:  email, telephone, text messages, co-worker or spouse stopping by, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and sounds notifying us of something like the ice cream truck passing.  Those are just a few, what comes to mind with you?

Each time an interruption happens, it is estimated that it takes 20 minutes to get back on track.  Six interruptions equates to two lost hours of productivity.  Two hours that we will not get back.  And, if that interference takes us on to the internet, we may lose an incalculable amount of precious time.

Now, if you’re feeling beat up or guilty as you realize you’ve fallen into this trap, (welcome to the club), there is a solution.  We help our clients take control of their activities so they maximize the effectiveness of the time they have available.

One of the tools and systems we use is TIME BLOCKING.  When used properly, this schedules high payoff activities to be accomplished at our peak hours.  Clients who discipline themselves find an enormous payoff as a result.

Curious about other tools available?  Great, let’s schedule a time to talk.  Contact or text me at 360-481-5011 to set up a 30 minute complimentary session.  It will be time well spent.

Oh, got a run. The ice cream truck is coming by.
